Deusto degrees certificate request

Non-official degree certificate request

I have finished my non-official studies. When and how can I request my degree certificate?

If you have been enrolled in a study programme that you have successfully completed this academic year, you can apply for your degree certificate on this link: deusto.es/secretariavirtual, by post or in person at the General Secretariat. Please check application deadlines. After the end of each semester, it is necessary to carry out file closure processes before those who have finished their studies can request their degree certificate.

You will find specific information in the Enrolment Instructions each year; but as a reference, applications start 3 weeks after the end of the assessment period in each session (1 week after the marks for the last exams held have been confirmed).

For subsequent academic years, following the completion of studies, applications are open on a continuous basis (except for August and UD holiday periods).

In order to process your degree certificate request, you should have submitted all the supporting documents required and be up to date with all payments.

In addition, in the case of degrees associated with an official degree (either Bachelor's or Master's degrees), whether they have been taken as a Joint Degree Programme type or simultaneously, you need to have requested your official degree certificate to apply for your Deusto degree certificate.

Some postgraduate studies include the fees for the issuing of the degree certificate or diploma in the enrolment fees. In these cases, issuance is ex officio, and it is not necessary to request it.

In any case, if you need to request a duplicate degree certificate, you will have to pay the corresponding fees. Here is a list of the degree programmes offered this academic year that do not require graduates to request a degree certificate

The University of Deusto is currently working on the implementation of a self-service system that will make it possible to request certificates and pay fees online. If you have finished your studies in the 2020/2021 academic year, you can request your degree certificate on the following link: deusto.es/secretariavirtual by post or in person at the General Secretariat.

If you apply using the self-service (online) system, you do not need to provide any supporting documents. Important: please check that the personal details that appear there are correct, as these will be included in your diploma. If they are not correct or you have changed any of them, please do not apply. You should request that your details be updated by sending a certified photocopy of your identification document or by submitting the original document and a photocopy for verification purposes.

You can also for your certificate by post or in person at the University of Deusto.

If you completed your studies in previous years, and until it is implemented, to apply for your non-official degree certificate you must complete the application form, sign it and submit it along with the required supporting documents, as specified on the back of the form. Forms are available from the website.

How and when will I receive my (non-official) degree certificate?

You will receive the receipt of the Degree Certificate request by post at the address you provided to us approximately within 15 days after its request. This will be valid until your certificate is issued.

In any case, when the degree certificate is available, you will receive a message by e-mail to your @opendeusto.es address and to the personal account you provided to us when you made your request. If you change your email address, please remember to inform the General Secretariat so that their database can be updated and you can receive the notification for the collection of your certificate correctly.
Degree certificates must be collected by the person concerned. If you are unable to come to the University to collect your degree certificate, you may authorise a third person to do so in writing (without the need for a power of attorney).

The legislation does not provide the possibility of handing out non-official university degrees in public administration offices. Therefore, if you are unable to come or authorise a third party to do so, you may request that it be posted to you. You will receive the application form together with the notification for collection of your degree certificate, which you must complete and return to the Secretariat-General.

IMPORTANT: To be valid, once collected, the certificate must be signed by the person concerned. No notes, annotations or other additions should be made to the degree certificate as this would invalidate it.

Duplicate degree certificate

Only one duplicate degree certificate can be requested

  • due to loss, destruction or damage.
  • Due to change in personal data.

Except in the case of loss (for obvious reasons), the certificate (physical document) that was previously issued must be invalidated.
Requests for a duplicate degree certificate (either official or Deusto degree) must be processed at the General Secretariat; it is not possible to process it through the self-service system.

I need a certified photocopy of my degree certificate

The University of Deusto is not a public university and its staff does not include civil servants. Hence, it does not issue certified copies.
To obtain a certified copy you can:

  • Go to a notary's office
  • Submit a simple copy and the original document (for verification purposes) to the entity to which it is to be accredited, the recipient of the document.
