What is the DEA?

Once you have successfully completed the teaching and research period of doctoral studies in accordance with the established regulation (R.D. 778/1998) and have passed the Research Aptitude Exam, you can apply for the Certificate-Diploma in Advanced Studies (DEA).

The University of Deusto is working on the implementation of a self-service system that will make it possible to request certificates and pay fees online.
Until it is implemented, you can apply for the certificate by post or in person at the University of Deusto.

You will receive the receipt as proof of your certificate request by post at the address you provided to us approximately within 15 days after you submitted your request.

When and how will I receive my Certificate-Diploma?

DEA diplomas take up to six months to prepare.

You will receive the receipt as proof of your certificate request by post at the address you provided to us approximately within 15 days after you submitted your request. It will be valid until it is issued.
In any case, once your diploma is available for collection, you will receive a message by email to your @opendeusto.es account and to the personal account you provided to us when making the request. If you change your e-mail address, please remember to inform the General Secretariat so that it can update its database and you can receive the notification for collection.
If you cannot come to the University to collect your Diploma-Certificate, you can authorise a third person in writing (without the need for a power of attorney).

If you cannot come to the University or authorise a third party to do so, you can request that it be posted to you. You will receive the application form together with the notification for the collection of the certificate, which you must complete and return to the Secretariat-General.

IMPORTANTE: To be valid, once collected, the certificate must be signed by the person concerned. No notes, annotations or other additions should be made to the certificate, as this would invalidate it.
