Application for Church Statement on Academic Competence (DECA)

DECA certificate request

Application for Church Statement on Academic Competence (DECA) for teaching Catholic Religion in Early Childhood Education and Primary Education.

The accreditation of the Church Statement on Academic Competence (DECA, in Spanish) is issued by the Spanish Episcopal Conference. However, the general secretariat of the University of Deusto deals with the accreditation of those who have studied and successfully completed the DECA course in the Faculty of Psychology and Education at this University, or at Begoñako Andra Mari Teacher Training University School (attached centre) at the Faculty of Theology.

How can I request my DECA diploma for Primary Education or Early Childhood Education?

The University of Deusto is working on the implementation of a self-service system that will make it possible to request certificates and pay fees online.
Until it is implemented, you can apply for the certificate by post or in person at the University of Deusto.

How and when will I receive my DECA diploma?

Once you have submitted your request, you will be receive the receipt as proof of your degree certificate request. This will be valid until it is issued.
The University of Deusto sends two annual submissions to the Spanish Episcopal Conference for processing: at the end of September and at the end of March. Accreditations are usually received approximately 4 months after they are sent to the Spanish Episcopal Conference.
Once the degree certificate is available, you will be notified by email to your @opendeusto.es address and to the personal account you provided to us when making the request. If you change your e-mail address, please remember to inform the General Secretariat so that it can update its database and you can receive the notification for collection of your degree certificate.

Can I request a duplicate DECA?

A duplicate may be requested if it is lost, destroyed or damaged.
If it is due to damage, the degree certificate being replaced (physical document) must be invalidated.
Requests for a duplicate degree certificate must be made directly to the Spanish Episcopal Conference.
